High Country NSW - Day 40

After an easy morning we took off for Berridale and up through Adaminaby. Amongst the cattle were a couple of emus beside a water hole. We stopped at Providence Campground for lunch. There were lots of signs warning us of horses on the road, and at last we saw a herd of Brumbies on Wild Horse Plains. Again there were a few dead wombats on the side of the road, (we still haven't seen a live one). Lunch was at Denison Camp Cround. At Kiandra there was a walk through the old gold-mining ruins. A house, the cemetery and the Court-house still survived.

We saw lots of rabbits. On a turnoff was the remains of "New-Chums" mine with some equipment. We had lunch, fighting off the millions of flies, then Darryl went for a walk up the hill to look at the mining relics. 

A really interesting lookout was Black Perry, which is a stone formation which is really rare. 

We didn't drive down the road to Talbingo, but it looks like a lovely place beside the Reservoir, and I would love to visit there someday. We stopped in Tumut to shop and get information before driving the 20km or so to Adelong. It had been our intention to try a free camping spot, but the Caravan park was only $20 for the night, and was really lovely around the back under the Plane Trees overlooking Adelong Creek. We went for a little walk around town.
